Terrific day hiker- This is my second pair of these Zamberlans. Provide a roomy toe box that might feel like a “size larger” to some - those of us with wide toes and narrower heels relish finding a shoe that works this well! They have the “action” sole which gives excellent movement and good support, so your balance on uneven terrain is excellent.

Very uncomfortable, heavy shoes- The shoes look great, but they are very heavy and uncomfortable. I vowed last night never to wear them again because they take all of the fun out of wearing sneakers, which are supposed to be comfy! I do not recommend these shoes. I had Montrails forever and they were always a pleasure to put on.

Tennessee to Alaska-Living in the mountains of Tennessee, we hike often and going to Alaska on vacation in June were the two reasons I decided to buy this shoe. It is wonderful. Great look - comfortable and good fit. Do buy smaller than you would think. I am usually an 8 1/2 and bought an 8 and it fits perfectly. I have not gone to Alaska yet but I have been wearing this shoe hiking and it is a winner.

So sad-I am so sad that my feet are not happy with this shoe. I really tried to talk my feet into accepting the shoe, but in the end, they convinced me it was not in their best interest. The “issue” is my very narrow heel which would not stay snugly put and thus warned me of likely blister problems. I would also add that it would be a great shoe for pronators, but NOT for supinators.

OMG! The COMFORT-I've tried many different brands of sneakers/walking shoes over the years and it was just by luck that I found this brand on Zappos.com. Boy Oh Boy am I glad I ordered!! These are the most comfortable shoes period I think I've ever put on, and I can hardly wait to start training for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society's Marathon in them. I bought them in a half size smaller than I normally wear, and the fit is perfection. I ordered the most brightly colored pair made, and I just adore them, esp. in the gloomy Spring weather outside. They were a splurge, but I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat! You get what you pay for.

These shoes rock!- I work outside in the northwest. These shoes keep my feet comfortable and dry all day, every day. They are lightweight and stylish as well. I highly recommend these for outside work or recreation.

Terrific shoe-This is a great shoe! Very comfortable and stylish. (Even my 72 year old father said these shoes looked good!) Take the advice of others and order a size down. I normally wear a 6 1/2 and have wide feet - the 6 fits perfect

Too tight for me...- Loved the look of these shoes. Unfortunately, even loosening the laces did not help them from causing pain across my (admittedly wide) foot, right on the side of my foot under my big toe. It's possible that they would have been looser across the front had I gone up another half size, but that would have made them too big in the heel, which was perfect. So I had to make a return. Bummer.

Top Performer-proven over time- This pair of 154 Rica is excellent. And normally, I only get the ankle support hiking boots and I got these for leisure day hikes or walks. And they are fantastatic. I have had Zamberlan hiking boots since 1998 -when I started hiking. My first boots lasted until this summer 2006 -that makes it 8 years and they had mileage with me (Chile, Canada, Peru, Costa Rica, Middle East, Switzerland, Germany) -and most of all a lot of hikes in Virginia and New York. It is good to know that I can always rely on my boots.

Highly Recommended!- This is my second pair of Zamberlans and I was not disappointed. I received the shoes one day before leavibng for Japan and was able to wear them on the flight over. I hiked to the top of Mt. Asama without having to break the shoes in. The breatheability factor was important in the humid environment. My feet stayed warm, the shoes might be a little too warm in really hot weather. Only downside was not having Vibram soles, but they were still adequate for hiking down the hillsides and gripping rocks. Go with a size and a half smaller than normal shoe size. Reinforced rubber toe helped when hiking up loose gravel. Definitely a comfortable and well made, functional shoe.

Recommended- I was looking for a shoe that could provide support in the ankle and sole. Also something that wasn't brown or grey. I go on alot of short trips and didn't want to always have to wear boots. I tried alot of the lightweight cross trainers and although they are great for running, they are not so good when you are hiking on rocky surfaces. The Rica definitely is a solid shoe. The leather material and stiff sole make it a great weekend hiker. The shoe is heavier than many of the cross training shoes out there but thats probably because it is not a outdoor running shoe.
